⦁ Hilsa fish pieces – 8-9 pieces
⦁ Mustard paste – 3 tablespoons
⦁ Chopped onions – 1 cup
⦁ Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
⦁ Green chilies (slit) – 6-7 pieces
⦁ Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
⦁ Oil – as required
⦁ Salt – to taste
⦁ Red and green chilies – 7 pieces (for decoration)
Cooking Method
⦁ Thaw the Hilsa fish pieces after taking them out of the freezer. Clean and wash them thoroughly.
⦁ Rub the fish pieces with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside.
⦁ Heat oil in a pan.
⦁ Add chopped onions to the hot oil and sauté until golden brown.
⦁ Add mustard paste and all other ingredients (except green chilies) to the pan. Cook until the oil separates from the spices.
⦁ Arrange the marinated fish pieces on top of the cooked spices in the pan.
⦁ Add a little water and gently flip the fish pieces.
⦁ Add mustard paste and whole green chilies to the pan.
⦁ Add a little more water, cover the pan, and cook until the water evaporates and the fish is cooked through.
Serving
Carefully place the cooked Hilsa fish pieces on a serving plate.
Note:
⦁ While making the mustard paste, add green chilies and a little salt to avoid any bitterness after cooking.
